An evening safari leaves your hotel in the afternoon and drives about 45 minutes to the dunes at Lahbab or Al Badayer. After a short stop for photos, the driver deflates the tyres and takes you dune bashing for 25 to 30 minutes across the red sand. Sunset is spent on top of a dune.
At the camp you have three to four hours: a camel ride, sandboarding, henna painting, shisha, unlimited soft drinks and a BBQ buffet with vegetarian options, followed by the belly dance, Tanoura and fire shows. You are back at your hotel around 9:30 pm.
Morning safaris skip the camp and concentrate on the driving, with quad bikes or dune buggies at the top of the dunes. Overnight safaris keep you at the camp after the shows for a night in a Bedouin tent and breakfast at sunrise.
